Vintage Ammonite Fossil Pendant Necklace with Twisted Gold-Tone Chain

A distinctive vintage necklace centred on a genuine polished ammonite fossil, framed in an irregular gold-tone surround. The natural fossil reveals a beautifully preserved spiral chamber pattern in earthy shades of charcoal, brown, cream and ochre, making every detail entirely unique. The pendant is suspended from a fluid, twisted herringbone-style chain whose alternating reflective surfaces create a subtle rippled effect. Its combination of natural history and sculptural gold-tone metal gives the necklace a strong 1970s bohemian and organic-modernist character, although it may date slightly later. Ammonites were prehistoric marine molluscs whose characteristic spiral shells became fossilised over millions of years.
