Georgian Urn Mourning Ring for William & Comfort in 20k Gold

A Georgian-era, mourning ring, made in high karat yellow gold, in rememberence of two men from Kent, England— William Gibbs, -1811, age 73, and Comfort Kingsmill, -1809, age 71. William’s name is noted on the ring’s outer shank, which is decorated in black and white champlevé enamel; Comfort’s is hand-engraved on the shank’s interior, in beautiful script. The ring's rectangular face sits slightly proud of the tapering shank, like a plaque. This central plaque is decorated with an elegant and highly detailed urn motif— behind it, vertically-oriented gold bars break up the black enamel field. This old darling is unusually bold and graphic.
