Labastida Rioja Madurado

100% Tempranillo from vines with an average age of 15 years, fermented in steel and aged for 3 months in 80% American and 20% French oak. Lighter in style and super easy drinking. "Bright and intense centre with a ruby edge. Very clean. The toast of the French oak barrel imparts a light vanilla and chocolate aroma, with touches of coffee, but the entire bouquet is very well balanced, highlighting red fruits on top of a bed of spices. Red fruits, anise and dark chocolate with a warm and persistent finish." Labastida is the 'new & old' name of the major co-op Montebuena winery in the coveted Alavesa sub-region of Rioja. Established in 1964 making modern styles of Rioja from old and well established vineyards. Labastida takes its name of the town where it is based, between the Ebro River and the Sierra Cantabria mountains.
