It is 99% water based and enriched with slip additives, so film moves freely across the panel instead of grabbing, and it holds that slip long enough to work demanding areas properly. It comes into its own on the parts of a car that punish a rushed install. Mirror caps, body embossments and tight returns all need repositioning, and the gel minimises the risk of adhesive drag while you get the film exactly where it needs to sit. It is safe on piano black surfaces and screens, which matters on modern cars, and it can also be used to stop contaminants seeping out from under seals.
