Eden Valley Chardonnay, Thorn-Clarke
As a 6th generation grape grower, the Thorn-Clarke family are custodians of 240 hectares of vineyard that includes holdings in some of the most southerly and northerly sites in the Barossa region. This Chardonnay is sourced from vineyards at the most southerly Eden extreme around Mt Crawford and shaped the cool climate style to the wine all accompanied by night harvesting, only using free run juice, wild yeast ferment and very subtle use of barrel fermentation. Aromas of grapefruit, white nectarine notes with complexity coming from the partial wild ferment, lees stirring and oak maturation. Crisp acidity mixes with creamy textures while the grapefruit, apple, and white peach characters continue on the palate with an edge of minerality and some supporting oak.
