The Roses and Plums

A charming French midcentury floral still life, with a wonderfully loose arrangement of roses in shades of coral, pink and deep crimson. By the same artist as "The Last Rose." The flowers are gathered in a warm amber vessel, with two pieces of fruit resting alongside, a small detail that gives the composition its lovely domestic quality. The cool blue-grey ground keeps all that color from becoming too sweet. Expressive, joyful and aged in the best possible way, finished in its original beautifully aged cream frame.
