Basha Bekele Gonjobe N
Gonjobe Bensa is a natural heirloom from Gonjobe village in the Bensa district of Sidama, grown by Basha Bekele from local heirloom varieties. It is juicy and sweet, with raspberry, red berries, and a jammy body. This is one of the coffees we roast and pour in our own Mazelab shops. I always buy more than we can get through, so I share the extra as green. Write to me for what is in stock and a sample.Basha collects ripe cherry from his own and his family's farms in Gonjobe, floats and sorts it, then dries it whole on African beds under clean mesh before hulling at his mill in Bombe and exporting from Addis Ababa. Gonjobe is his highest ground, on Nitisol soils between 2450 and 2580 masl, with the farm covering 50.5 hectares and an annual crop near 15.5 tonnes.Gonjobe is the lot that made Basha's name. From his single farm here he won the 2024 Cup of Excellence and Taste of Harvest (TOH) 2025. He is one of the youngest and most driven producers in Bensa, building his network across Murago, Kokose, and Gonjobe since 2021.
