Jaeger Le Coultre reverso Duetto Ref.269.8.54 SB+SP
One watch, two faces, and a very good reason to keep turning it over. This Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Duetto Ref. 269.8.54 dates to circa 2012 and takes the Reverso’s famous turning case to something even cooler. Its stainless steel case and bracelet keep the watch crisp and architectural, while two rows of sixteen diamonds give the rectangular shape a brighter frame. The silver side is the composed one. Black Arabic numerals, blued hands and a traditional railway minute track give it the clean Art Deco character expected from a Reverso. Flip the case, however, and the mood changes completely. A graphic black dial appears, finished with a day-and-night display at six and a far more evening-ready personality. That contrast is the whole idea behind the Duetto. Unlike the Duoface, it is not designed to show a second time zone. Both dials indicate the same time, powered by one hand-wound movement and two sets of hands rotating in opposite directions. Jaeger-LeCoultre introduced the Duetto concept in 1997 as a watch able to move between two distinct styles without ever leaving the wrist. The original steel bracelet makes this example feel especially coherent, flowing directly from the case and giving the watch more presence than the usual leather-strap Reverso. It also comes with its Jaeger-LeCoultre service box and service papers, a good addition for the next owner. Silver for the day, black and diamonds for after dark. Two very different Reversos, cleverly hidden inside one case. Available at Reestraat 3, Amsterdam.
