Here we have a symmetrical pair of Japanese Oribre ware, ceramic flower vases dating back to the late 20th century. This pair of handcrafted, contemporary ceramics feature a classic sake-bottle silhouette with a wide, upright cylindrical body, flat squared shoulders, a sharply constricted narrow neck and a small flared rim. The exterior bodies displays prominent, horizontal wheel-thrown ridges running up the walls creating textural depth and catching light. Complimented by a two-toned dip glaze with the rim, neck and shoulder's coated in a glossy, rich teal-green and the main body showcasing an opaque, cream coloured glaze. Each vase in accompanied by its own Tomobako giftbox, made from paulownia wood and brushed with calligraphy detailing the type of ware, the artist signature and kiln stamp.
