An Early Victorian 1 Pint Pewter Jug

An early 19th-century Pewter 1 pint ale jug, featuring a distinctive bulbous body, waisted neck, broad flared rim and substantial swept handle. Marked 'PINT' to its side and bearing impressed maker’s marks to the rim. Its softly polished pewter surface has developed an attractive aged patina, with areas of darker oxidation, surface wear and gentle marks accumulated over many years of use, adding considerably to its period character. The sturdy, utilitarian form is typical of Victorian pewter drinking vessels, while the elegant proportions and decorative moulded bands give it a pleasing presence.
