2022 EVH Wolfgang Standard QM~ Quilted Black Fade~ Baked Maple Neck~ Floyd Rose

2022 EVH Wolfgang Standard QM – Black Fade – Quilted Maple – Floyd Rose The 2022 EVH Wolfgang Standard QM in Black Fade combines Eddie Van Halen’s distinctive guitar design with a high-performance specification, including a beautifully figured quilt maple top, baked maple neck, direct-mounted Wolfgang humbuckers and an EVH-branded Floyd Rose double-locking tremolo. Finished in a striking Black Fade, the quilted maple figuring gives this guitar an excellent appearance, with the darker edges contrasting against the grey and charcoal tones running across the top. The Wolfgang Standard was developed to make the playing characteristics of Eddie Van Halen’s signature guitars accessible to a wider range of players, while retaining the features that make the design so recognisable. This example dates from 2022 and offers a great combination of fast playability, powerful pickups and the versatility of a Floyd Rose tremolo. Quilted Maple Top & Wolfgang Body Design The Wolfgang’s distinctive double-cutaway body is designed around comfort and upper-fret access. A basswood body provides a balanced foundation, topped with an attractive quilted maple veneer that gives the Black Fade finish its distinctive depth and character. The carved forearm contour provides a comfortable playing position, while the compact body shape sits naturally against the player. Cream-coloured body binding contrasts nicely with the dark finish, while black hardware completes the appearance. Baked Maple Neck & Compound-Radius Fingerboard One of the main attractions of the Wolfgang Standard is its neck. The baked maple neck features EVH’s distinctive Wolfgang backshape, with an oiled finish that gives it a smooth, natural feel. Unlike a heavily lacquered neck, the oiled surface allows the hand to move freely, making it particularly appealing for fast playing and extended sessions. The baked maple fingerboard features a 12”–16” compound radius, becoming progressively flatter towards the upper frets. This provides a comfortable feel for chords lower down the neck while allowing string bending and lead playing further up the fingerboard. With 22 jumbo frets and a 25.5-inch scale length, the Wolfgang has a playing specification well suited to modern rock, metal and technically demanding styles. Direct-Mount Wolfgang Humbuckers The guitar is fitted with a pair of EVH Direct-Mount Wolfgang humbuckers, designed to provide the power and clarity associated with Eddie Van Halen’s signature sound. The bridge pickup delivers a strong, articulate response with plenty of output for driven rhythm playing, while retaining definition during faster passages. The neck pickup offers a fuller, smoother voice for expressive lead playing and sustained notes. A three-way toggle selector provides the familiar bridge, combined and neck pickup options, with master volume and tone controls keeping the layout straightforward. EVH Floyd Rose Special Tremolo A major feature of this guitar is its EVH-branded Floyd Rose Special double-locking tremolo system. Paired with a Floyd Rose R2 locking nut, it provides the tuning stability needed for expressive vibrato, wide pitch changes and dive bombs. The six individually adjustable saddles and fine tuners allow the guitar to be accurately set up and adjusted once the locking nut is secured. The original-style tremolo arm is included, as shown in the photographs. Condition Very good overall condition for a 2022 instrument. This guitar presents particularly well from the front, with the Black Fade quilted maple top remaining very attractive. There are surface scratches on the back of the body, visible in our detailed photographs, along with some minor marks and general playwear elsewhere. These are cosmetic signs of previous use and do not significantly detract from the overall appearance of the instrument. The hardware also shows some minor signs of handling and use, as expected. We have taken detailed photographs under direct lighting to show the condition accurately. Some of the surface marks are more noticeable under this lighting than they are in normal viewing. Please study all photographs, which show the actual guitar for sale and form part of our condition description.
