Outdoor Embroidery Pillows Tues Nov 17th 4-7 pm

Come hang out for an evening learning beginning linen embroidery. We will be making pomegranate outdoor pillows, one of the top requests gardeners for wooden benches and chairs. Learn about traditional Western craft motifs. Perfect for your own garden and sharing with friends. On planting afternoons, we scoop crumbly soil into shared planters, tuck herbs into place, and water them together, catching the fresh scent of damp earth. Wooden benches are wildly popular in community gardens! We decided to feature this as part of our larger community sewing bee. An excellent gift for yourself or one you love. Feel the lightly textured weave of linen beneath your fingertips as you practice simple embroidery stitches, drawing colorful thread through the cloth. Rich pomegranate reds, fresh leaf greens, and curling stems can turn each pillow into a small, personal garden scene. Imagine your finished pillow resting against the warm grain of a wooden bench or chair, with sunlight dappling the fabric and leaves rustling overhead. Together, we can share ideas for surrounding our seating areas with bright flowers, fragrant herbs, and soft greenery—welcoming corners where we can settle in with a book, linger over conversation, or breathe in the garden air. In the future, we hope to gather for more community sewing bees, relaxed stitch-and-share circles, and garden afternoons scented with herbs and freshly turned earth. Outdoor sketching circles gathered in dappled shade, pencils tracing curled leaves and shifting shadows while we compare the details each person has noticed. Reading circles settle onto pillow-lined wooden benches, taking turns reading aloud as a breeze lifts the edges of the pages. Picnics spread across blankets nearby, with crisp fruit, fragrant tea, and conversation lingering beneath rustling branches. The class includes a kit to make your very own pillow to take home. No experience is necessary.
