Italian Mid-Century Glazed Ceramic Teapot and Vessel, 1960s

Sculptural Italian Mid-Century Ceramics This distinctive Italian ceramic set from the 1960s comprises a sculptural lidded teapot and decorative vessel, both characterised by bold geometric forms and richly layered glazes. Finished in complementary aqua blue, olive green and earthy brown tones, the pieces capture the expressive character of Italian mid-century ceramic design. Geometric Forms and Reactive Glazes The teapot features an unusual architectural construction, with a rounded body contrasted by a pronounced angular spout, stepped lid and sculptural handle. The accompanying vessel has a striking spherical form, raised foot and domed lid with an open front. Both pieces are enhanced by variegated glazed surfaces, creating subtle shifts in colour and texture. Italian Studio Pottery Character Combining functional design with sculptural expression, the set reflects the experimentation found in Italian decorative ceramics of the mid-century period. The unusual silhouettes and complementary glazes allow the two pieces to work beautifully together as collectible decorative objects or individually within a contemporary interior.
