Spring Botanical Bas-Relief

Rachel Dein returns to The Merchant’s Table with an exclusive series of bas-reliefs: Early Spring, Spring and Late Summer. Here is Spring, with a beautifully composed collection of flowers, listed below. Rachel Dein specialises in creating botanical art in plaster, work which evolved from the old tradition of nature printing, the technique of using the surface of a natural object to make a print. The cast is hand made from white plaster with a fixing for hanging on the wall. Flowers in Spring cast: • Bleeding-heart (Lamprocapnos Spectabilis, syn. Dicentra Spectabilis) • Columbine (Aquilegia Spp.) • Cranesbill (Geranium Phaeum) • Fern (Matteucia Spp.) Fiddleheads • Foamflower (Tiarella Spp.) • Forget-me-not (Myosotis Sylvatica) • Fringe Cups (Tellima Grandiflora) • Lilac (Syringa Vulgaris) • Ornamental Onion (Allium Spp.) • Pasqueflower (Pulsatilla Vulgaris) Seedhead • Solomon’s Seal (Polygonatum × Hybridum) • Spanish Bluebell (Hyacinthoides Hispanica) • Welsh Poppy (Papaver Cambricum) Dimensions: Height: 40cm, Width: 40cm Photography: Eva Nemeth
