Jardinière Honeysuckle Basket, 20in

Pale honeysuckle crosshatched over red vine, a lashed bentwood rim, a sprig of woven leaves, and a floor that spirals out from a single point. This is wild Virginia honeysuckle, some strands skinned pale and some left russet, with no dye and no finish. Anne McCauley gathers the vines around her home in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia At nineteen inches and low to the table, it belongs in the middle of a dining table, piled with citrus or left empty so the weave can be seen. Two of her baskets are in the Smithsonian Museum collection. There is only one of this one, and it's meant to be used.
