This is a warm, late summer planting with real presence, put together to keep bees fed right through the summer months. The collection includes 3 Dahlia Myrtle’s Folly, 3 Dahlia Alstergruss, 20 Crocosmia Lucifer and 20 Dutch Iris Harlequin mixture, giving you enough plants to create a full, layered display rather than a scattered one. It is designed to flower right through the summer, starting with the iris, building through crocosmia, and finishing with the dahlias at their peak. The emphasis is on open, accessible flowers that bees can actually use, not just look at. Myrtle’s Folly produces loose, fiery blooms in shades of orange, coral and gold, each one slightly different and easy for pollinators to work. Alstergruss adds depth with rich red flowers, giving the planting some weight while still offering accessible pollen. Crocosmia Lucifer threads through the border on arching stems, its vivid scarlet flowers drawing in bees through the height of summer. Earlier on, the Dutch Iris Harlequin mixture provides an important first source of nectar, helping to carry pollinators into the main flowering season. The result is a planting that looks full and generous, while quietly doing a job in the garden, supporting bees from early summer through to autumn. Best planted in a sunny border where it has space to settle in and move naturally.
