Silver handmade solid hammered ring with sapphire
This ring is a heavy weight stacking style ring made from 3mm wide hammered silver with a 3mm antique sapphire set on top. Another sapphire from the parcel I bought from an antique dealer over 30 years ago. These stones were originally cut in the early 20th century but, for whatever reason, were never used. They sat untouched for decades before finally finding their way onto my bench. This ring keeps things simple — a heavy hammered silver band with a single sapphire mounted on top. Sometimes one good stone is enough. There’s something I really enjoy about finally giving these forgotten stones the setting they always deserved. This ring is currently a size y but can be made to order in any size. This piece is part of my 52 Ring Project, a personal challenge inspired by rediscovering a long-forgotten collection of gemstones. After moving to Dorset, I unpacked two boxes of stones that had remained untouched for several years — some of which I have owned for over fifteen years. After carefully sorting and organising them by type, size and colour, I decided to bring them back into use by creating one ring each week over the course of a year. Each ring in the collection is made using a different gemstone, giving every piece its own character and story.
