Camel fiber is one of Mongolia’s rarest and most remarkable natural materials. Exceptionally soft, warm, and lightweight, camel wool offers a luxurious feel similar to cashmere while maintaining excellent durability. Our camel fiber comes from Bactrian camels raised in the harsh climate of Mongolia’s Gobi Desert. To survive the region’s extreme winters, camels grow a dense, insulating undercoat that is naturally soft, warm, and breathable. We source our fiber through networks of herder cooperatives across Mongolia and work with the same herding families each season. These partnerships support pastoral communities while allowing us to maintain consistent quality from year to year. Camel coats contain both coarse guard hairs and a fine insulating down layer. For our yarn, the coarse fibers are carefully removed, leaving only the soft undercoat to be spun into yarn suitable for knitting and crochet. Naturally warm, breathable, and moisture-wicking, camel yarn creates garments that are comfortable across a wide range of temperatures.
