An adorable over all muted golden ocher colored picture jasper maiden with a turquoise inlaid face and jet features carved by Kateri Sanchez. The maiden wears a tablita style headdress that has one incised dragonfly inlaid with jet pigment placed on the back and front along with incised triangles. The maiden wears an apple coral dot pendant as well as a sash inlaid with three coral dots. The fringe shawl the maiden wears hides a prominent amount of the maiden's hair on the back side. Maidens symbolize abundance, fertility and feminine energy and the corn maiden is venerated in Zuni for giving up her life for the health of the community.
