Complex Pinot
Domaine Girard “Pech Calvel” Pinot Noir 2023 Region: Pays d’Oc, Mediterranean South-West France. High altitude vineyards. Vintage: 2023 Grape Variety: 100% Pinot Noir ABV: 14% Maturation: 9 months in 500L oak barrels. Background: This is a reload – same wine and same vintage – of the Pech Calvel that arrived about a month ago and sold out rapidly. Customers really loved it and the feedback was glowing so I have got in another load of the self same wine. It’s a killer drop! Tasting Note: Domaine Girard’s “Pech Calvel” 2023 Pinot Noir is a thrilling, terroir-driven red that redefines expectations for southern French Pinot. On the nose, it’s a symphony of deep, pure Pinot fruit—cassis, redcurrant, raspberry, and cherry—lifted by blood orange marmalade and nuanced with smoky oak and a lick of charry licorice. The palate is commanding yet precise, with volume, ripe tannins, and a savoury backbone that speaks of both place and expert craft. Drink now for its wild fruit purity or cellar confidently through to 2032. Ideal alongside duck confit, venison, or mushroom risotto. Red Burgundy of equivalent quality would carry a 3-digit price tag. Post arrival price will be $52.95 Today’s pre-departure price is $34.95 This wine is part of the shipment scheduled to arrive in October/November 2026. Dispatch to you will be organised as soon as it has cleared Australian customs.
