Yongsung Kim’s For This Purpose I Have Come is a powerful visual declaration of Christ’s triumph over sin and death. The resurrected Savior stands upon the stone that once sealed His tomb, now broken beneath His feet as a symbol that the grave could not hold Him. Within the fractured sections of the stone, the shape of a cross emerges, connecting the victory of the Resurrection to the sacrifice that made it possible. Behind Him, the red glow of a new day rises on the horizon, backlighting the crosses of Calvary in the distance and reminding the viewer of the suffering that gave way to the glory.
