Peaks &Simple River
This is an original Mixed Media artwork created by Marlene Kallstrom-Barritt. A quiet mountain landscape unfolds in a sketch-like, watercolor style. Two prominent snow-capped peaks rise in the middle distance, their sharp white summits edged by dark, hand-drawn lines that give the scene a delicate, illustrated feel. The mountains are layered with soft browns, grays, and muted greens, suggesting rocky slopes and patches of alpine vegetation beneath the snow. In the foreground, a broad expanse of calm blue water stretches across the lower part of the image, reflecting the cool tones of the scene and creating a sense of stillness. Thin, flowing lines ripple across the surface, adding gentle movement without disturbing the overall peace. Above the mountains, the sky is pale and washed out, with a few scattered circular marks that resemble drifting clouds or distant birds, reinforcing the airy, open atmosphere. The whole image feels tranquil and slightly dreamy, as if it were captured from a remote lakeshore on a quiet, overcast day. The loose, minimalist linework and soft washes of color give it an intimate, hand-crafted quality. This work is done on watercolour paper that is then affixed to a birch panel and coated in a protective wax layer. Marlene created this artwork in 2026. This artwork is 6" x 6" and is unframed. This piece is part of the temporary exhibit "Beauty of the Rockies" Come and see it in person through the months of June and July 2026.
