AI ImpactCover (light to moderate usage - 0.095 tonnes of CO2-e)

Each time you use an AI tool, servers in large data centres consume electricity that has a carbon footprint and uses significant amounts of water. AI ImpactCover offers a simple way to effectively compensate for the carbon and water impacts of using artificial intelligence (AI). AI ImpactCover (light to moderate) is an annual payment of $12 to remove the carbon associated with AI use. Your annual offset covers 0.095 tonnes of CO2-e through native reforestation with an additional riparian tree planted to directly support the restoration of waterways at Strzelecki Nature Link. This riparian planting improves water quality, reduces erosion, enhances biodiversity, shades aquatic habitats and helps manage water temperatures. Greenfleet is monitoring the waterways, utilising environmental DNA (eDNA) to understand how the habitat improves over time for species like platypus. Greenfleet has partnered with Cool Planet, an independent Australian sustainability consultancy specialising in carbon accounting and impact modelling, to develop AI ImpactCover. Cool Planet’s methodology established a robust and defensible estimate of the emissions associated with average annual AI use. Cool Planet has considered data published by the AI-providers, peer-reviewed research and adopted deliberately conservative assumptions.
