1980s YSL Star-Patterned Tights
From the Closet of: Jenny Walton Label: Yves Saint Laurent Era: 1980s About the Item: “I love a pair of pattern tights, but you just don’t really see that many interesting ones anymore,” Jenny says of these celestial Yves Saint Laurent thigh-high stockings, discovered on Vinted while she was living in Milan. Scattered with black stars against sheer mesh, they capture the kind of whimsical accessory dressing that has largely disappeared from contemporary fashion. “They feel very mystical,” she says, recalling her youthful obsession with statement hosiery during the American Apparel era in downtown New York. Jenny loved styling the thigh-highs with a black Prada mini skirt, where the playful star motif made an otherwise simple outfit feel slightly mischievous and mysterious. “It’s such a forgotten accessory,” she says. “But it completely changes a look.” About the Label: By the 1970s and ’80s, Yves Saint Laurent had expanded far beyond couture, creating accessories and hosiery that carried the same sense of drama and fantasy as his runway collections. Saint Laurent consistently drew inspiration from art, theater, astrology, and bohemian dressing—making whimsical motifs like stars feel entirely at home within the YSL universe. Even the label’s more playful accessories retained the sleek sensuality and Parisian glamour that defined the house. Fabric: 97% Polyamide Condition: Item is in great vintage condition.
