Unitronic Rainbow Shift Light and Digital Oil Level Add-On - MK8 GTI/Golf R, 8Y S3
NOTE: This is an add-on to existing software. You must already own the ECU tune for the MK8 GTI/Golf R or 8Y S3. New Option: Rainbow Shift Light and Digital Oil Level Add-On: Looking to add even more functionality to your MK8 GTI®, Golf R® or 8Y S3®? Unitronic is proud to announce its latest Rainbow Shift Light and Digital Oil Level Add-On, which further enhances your in-car OEM+ experience with seamless integration and driver-focused capabilities. This new release expands on the ever-growing list of Unitronic Performance Software features for the 2.0TSI® EVO4 platform by introducing additional convenience and visual enhancements that feel right at home within your infotainment system or virtual cockpit. Rainbow Shift Light Function Originally exclusive to certain MK8 Golf R models, the Rainbow Shift Light adds a vibrant and functional visual element to the Virtual Cockpit experience. Unitronic has now enabled this sought-after display behavior on platforms which did not originally receive it from the factory, including the MK8 GTI (DSG & 6spd) and 8Y S3, while also expanding its functionality to additional drive modes on MK8 Golf R DSG vehicles. As engine speed climbs toward redline, the shift light animation progresses across the tachometer from green, to yellow, and ultimately red to help drivers time gear changes more consistently during spirited driving or track use. With Unitronic Performance Software, this feature can now be enabled in S-mode, and M-mode (S/Tiptronic) for supported MK8 GTI, and 8Y S3 applications equipped with the DSG gearbox. For 6spd MK8 GTI users, the Rainbow Shift Light is enabled in all drive modes, too! Digital Oil Level Display Added The Digital Oil Level feature allows drivers to conveniently monitor engine oil level directly through the infotainment system, and virtual cockpit, eliminating the need to manually check the dipstick during routine inspections. This feature provides added peace of mind by making it easier than ever to keep an eye on one of your engine's most critical vitals. Whether you're preparing for a road trip, track day, or simply performing regular maintenance checks, having quick access to your oil level through the factory interface adds another layer of convenience to your daily driving experience. This digital oil level monitor can be accessed manually within the infotainment vehicle menu anytime. A quick pop-up will appear on the virtual cockpit a couple of seconds after engine start-up (after disclaimers/alert/warning messages are cleared), or if/when the vehicle's hood is open. Enhanced OEM+ Functionality Unitronic brings you this unique OEM+ functionality through a simple software Add-On, eliminating the need for external modules or instrument cluster disassembly required by some alternative solutions — all for just $50. UniCONNECT+ / UniPRO+ (Dealer Tool) is required to reflash the vehicle with the appropriate Unitronic Software, while OBDeleven or a similar diagnostic/coding tool is required to enable the necessary display parameters. See complete instructions HERE. NOTES: • Unitronic Advanced Features (UAF) Add-On is not required • UniCONNECT+ / UniPRO+ is required to flash the vehicle with appropriate Software • OBDeleven or similar diagnostic/coding tool is required to enable certain display functions • Your vehicle must be equipped with the Virtual Cockpit Plus (VCP) option to activate the Rainbow Shift Light on 8Y S3 applications. You can identify if you have the VCP by PR Code 9S9. The PR code stands for Primärausstattung, which in English is Production Code. You can find PR codes by checking the Vehicle Data Label sticker, usually in your owners manual or on the rear frame rail beneath the false floor / spare tire well area or by using a VIN checker tool that is able to provide PR codes.
