Vintage Sterling Silver Yard-O-Led Mechanical Propelling Pencil Hallmarked 1954 (C2896)

Description A vintage sterling silver mechanical pencil. This is a Yard-O-Led brand example and has their name down the pocket clip. The barrel is plain design and has a hallmark from the London assay office with date letter for 1954. The cap and the pocket clip have individual lion marks to show that they are also silver. Around the cap it has 'Made In England Patent No 422767'. Yard-O-Led was the brand name for Johnson Matthey and many designs were produced over the years. On this example you rotate the cap to propel and retract the lead. The mechanism is working fine and it comes with lead in place. It is fitted with lead of approx. 1.2mm diameter. Condition Some surface wear typical for the period. One very small indent to the barrel to the opposite side of the pocket clip. Mechanism working fine.
