Fighter Tales: Air Combat Through History takes readers on a thrilling journey through the evolution of aerial warfare—from the strange legend of an 1808 French balloon duel to the high-speed jet battles of the 21st Century. Spanning more than a century of courage, innovation, and danger, this collection captures the voices and experiences of the pilots who defined combat in the skies. Featuring over 100 historical and contemporary photos, it brings the drama, innovation, and intensity of air combat vividly to life. Follow the daring pioneers of World War I, where pilots like Frank Luke transformed fragile, fabric-covered aircraft into weapons of war. Experience the raw intensity of World War II as Corsair pilots dominate the skies in some of the most legendary dogfights ever fought. Encounter the enigmatic “Casey Jones” of the Korean War, a figure shrouded in mystery and aerial prowess. Then accelerate into the jet age, where supersonic fighters duelled at the edge of the stratosphere. Blending historical insight with vivid storytelling, Fighter Tales explores not just the aircraft, but the minds, instincts, and courage of those who flew them. Each chapter captures a moment where technology and humanity collide in the crucible of conflict, revealing the enduring spirit of fighter pilots across generations. ~~~~~~~ About the Author Kyle Dunn is a museum curator, public historian, reenactor, and internet personality.
