Farm Radio Battery Eliminator for Tube Radios
Farm Radio Battery Eliminator for Vintage Tube Radio Restoration Bring your 1920s farm radio, battery operated tube radio, or vintage radio receiver back to reliable operation without the frustration of managing multiple separate batteries. This farm radio battery eliminator is designed to consolidate the power needs of early tube radios into one practical solution, allowing many antique receivers and transceivers to operate from a single DC source. For collectors, restorers, radio clubs, museums, and vintage electronics enthusiasts, this voltage converter offers a cleaner and more convenient way to power historic radio equipment. Whether used on the bench, at a show, in a mobile display, or in an area without access to AC power, it helps preserve the magic of early radio while making operation far more practical. Instead of relying on hard-to-source A, B, and C battery combinations, this battery consolidator provides the multiple voltages commonly required by battery operated tube radios from one 11–30VDC input. Multi-Voltage A, B, and C Power from One DC Source This antique radio power supply converts 11–30VDC input into the necessary filament, plate, and grid bias voltages used by many 1920s battery powered radios. The adjustable “A” filament supply provides 1.25V to 6.5V at 3 amps, making it useful for a range of early tube filament requirements. The “B” plate voltage outputs include 135V at 80mA, 90V at 60mA, 67.5V at 45mA, and 45V and 22.5V at 5mA, with the total of all B supplies under 80mA. The “C” grid bias outputs include -4.5V, -9V, and -22.5V at 2mA and can be modified as needed. This versatile tube radio voltage converter can be powered by a suitable battery, bench power supply, or an appropriately sized linear AC/DC converter. When used with a compatible AC/DC adapter, it can also serve as a battery eliminator for bench or display use. A 24W linear AC/DC adapter may be available separately for an additional cost. Important compatibility note: this unit cannot be used to power self-biasing radios that require isolated A and B batteries with no direct connection between the A and B battery circuits. Compact, Quiet, and Protected for Confident Operation Designed for practical vintage radio use, this compact farm radio battery eliminator measures approximately 4.7 x 4.7 x 4 inches with the cover installed, or about 3 inches high with the cover removed. At only 18 ounces without a battery or converter, it is light enough for portable demonstrations yet capable enough for restoration bench work. Two built-in indicators make operation easier to monitor. One indicator shows when the battery is connected and the converter power switch is on. The second indicator shows when the radio is on and drawing plate current from the 135V, 90V, or 67.5V supply. This unit is built for quiet, dependable use with no hum or buzz. It includes overload protection, short-circuit protection, and reverse-polarity protection for added peace of mind. With a user manual and twelve-month guarantee included, it is a smart power solution for anyone restoring, testing, or demonstrating early battery operated tube radios. Voltage converter for battery operated tube radio receivers / transceivers. Solution to the problem of portable / mobile use or use in area without access to AC power. Allows for operation normally requiring multiple batteries from a single battery. This is a battery consolidator providing multiple voltages from a single DC source. It also can be used as battery eliminator when powered by an AC/DC converter (also available). Converts 11 - 30VDC (Vin) to the necessarily filament, plate, and grid voltages. “A” (filament) supply : “Ax”: 1.25V to 6.5V, 3 amp, “B” (plate) supplies: 135V/ 80mA, 90V/ 60mA, 67.5V /45mA, 45 and 22.5V/ 5mA, (sum of all “B” supplies < 80mA, “C” (grid bias) supplies: -4.5V, -9V and -22.5V /2mA (easily modified). Slide switch connects B- to either A- or A+. This device CAN NOT BE USED to power self biasing radios requiring isolated A and B batteries (radios with NO direct connection between the A and B batteries). DC input can be supplied by battery (see photo, battery not included), appropriately sized linear AC/DC converter (see photo, converter not included) or your own bench power supply. 24W linear AC/DC adapter / converter can be provided for an additional $20.00 (contact seller) which allows the device to be used as a battery eliminator. Two indicators: one indicates battery is connected and voltage converter power switch is ON, the other indicates radio is also ON and drawing plate current (from the 135, 90 or 67.5V supply). Standby power 3-4W. For use on bench, to allow mobile operation or anywhere AC power is not readily available. Small size (4.7 x 4.7 x 4” height) with cover on (3” height with cover off). Light weight (18 oz. without battery or converter). DC in: 11 - 30V. Operating temperature 0-35 deg C. No hum or buzz. Overload, short circuit and reverse polarity protected. User Manual. Twelve month guarantee.
