Vintage flat sequins in an antique gold, from the archive of Mollie Welch, tambour embroiderer in Norman Hartnell’s workroom.One side has a petrol finish, the oil-on-water sheen that flashes pink, green and violet as the sequin turns. The other side is plain gold. Stacked on the thread they look dark and smoky, then come alive once stitched.
