COLOSSAL CLASS // Hand Sewing 101: Upcycle a Tie

Location: ColossalCon North 2026 Cypress Panel Room (Friday, November 20th) Ironwood Panel Room (Sunday, November 22nd) Class Length: 2 hours ________________________________ In this hand sewing workshop, you’ll decorate a tie with appliqués, buttons, and layered details to create a cute, wearable collage. Mix textures, arrange your favorite elements, and enjoy making something a little unexpected. Along the way, you’ll practice useful hand sewing techniques that reach far beyond this project– from securing a loose button to adding a personal touch to clothing and costumes. ________________________________ In this workshop you'll learn: How to thread a needle, knot your thread, and secure your stitches. Use basic hand stitches to attach decorative elements. Position and sew on appliqués. Attach buttons securely. Mend small wear and tear on pre-existing clothing Prerequisite Skills: None - Beginner Friendly ________________________________ About the Instructor: Aissac is a professional costumer from NYC that specializes in pattern making, beading, hand finishing, and garment construction. They’ve worked on shows for both film and Broadway, such as Wicked, The Lion King, Gilded Age, and the upcoming Michael Jackson biopic. Their passion for sewing comes from over 15 years of cosplay experience.
