Anthurium villenaorum × Anthurium warocqueanum – F1 Hybrid

Anthurium villenaorum × Anthurium warocqueanum is a first-generation (F1) hybrid from our in-house breeding programme. This unusual cross combines the distinctive character of Anthurium villenaorum with the iconic elongated velvet foliage of Anthurium warocqueanum. The young plants already show a particularly striking combination of traits: dark green, velvety leaves with contrasting pale venation, an increasingly elongated leaf shape and distinctive reddish, textured petioles. New leaves emerge considerably lighter before gradually deepening in colour as they mature. As with all seed-grown F1 hybrids, every seedling is genetically unique. Individual plants may therefore show differences in leaf shape, texture, colour, venation and other characteristics as they continue to mature. To maximize the chances of discovering exceptional new cultivars, we germinate considerably more seedlings than we ultimately need. The most promising individuals are retained for our breeding programme, while the remaining healthy seedlings are offered in limited quantities through our In-House Hybrids collection. This plant has been grown from seed in our own breeding programme and is not a tissue-cultured clone.
