Other People's Evenings

30X30cm, acrylic on board, framed I’ve been staying with Mum in Randwick for the last few weeks while she recovers from a broken arm. Most evenings I head out for a walk around the neighbourhood. I’ve become a bit obsessed with the little local shops at night. The takeaway places, corner stores, laundromats, whatever happens to still be glowing after dark. And then there are all those rooms above them. A light on, a window half open, somebody moving around up there. I always find myself wondering who lives in them and what their lives are like. Anyway, evening walks have started turning into paintings.
