A little piece of Australian jewellery history, brimming with old-world charm, beautiful symbolism and a touch of good fortune! An enchanting vintage Australian 9ct yellow gold and natural ruby lucky horseshoe ring, dating to the year 1930, and bearing the mark of that era, for the renowned Australian jewellery, PROUDS. Rich in sentiment and character, this delightful piece captures the romantic appeal of early 20th-century jewellery, when meaningful motifs and symbolic gemstones were treasured as personal talismans of love, luck and protection. Beautifully crafted in warm 9ct yellow gold, the ring features a charming, raised horseshoe-shaped face, adorned with seven vibrant natural rubies in lovely raspberry-red hues. The gemstones are individually set along the curve of the horseshoe, surrounding a wonderfully textured central panel with decorative detailing. Elegant, sculpted shoulders flow gracefully into the polished gold band, adding further character and a distinctly vintage aesthetic. A Lucky Horseshoe – A Symbol of Protection & Good Fortune For centuries, the horseshoe has been cherished as one of the most recognisable symbols of good luck. Traditionally believed to ward off misfortune and attract prosperity, horseshoes became particularly popular motifs in Victorian and Edwardian jewellery, with their sentimental appeal continuing well into the early 20th century. A horseshoe worn with its ends pointing upwards is often said to resemble a vessel, ready to catch and hold good fortune, preventing one's luck from spilling away. Horseshoe jewellery was frequently gifted as a token of affection, protection and well wishes, making pieces such as this wonderfully meaningful keepsakes. Seven Rubies – Seven Times the Luck! What makes this particular ring even more special is its beautiful arrangement of seven natural rubies. The number seven has long been regarded as a particularly fortunate number, associated with luck, completeness, harmony and spiritual significance across numerous cultures. When combined with the traditional symbolism of the horseshoe, seven gemstones create a wonderfully fitting expression of good fortune! Rubies themselves have been treasured throughout history as gemstones of love, passion, vitality, courage and protection. Their rich reddish-pink colour adds a beautiful warmth and romantic contrast to the yellow gold. Together, the lucky horseshoe, seven gemstones and symbolic rubies make this an especially charming piece of sentimental jewellery. A Beautiful Piece of Australian Jewellery Heritage Dating to approximately 1930, this ring is a lovely example of vintage Australian gold jewellery, bearing the mark of PROUDS, a well-established name in Australian jewellery retail history. Its distinctive sculptural shoulders, textured goldwork and colourful gemstone arrangement capture the individuality and character that make early Australian jewellery so desirable. Another wonderful feature is its generous size Z (approximately US 12.5), making it an appealing find for collectors and lovers of vintage jewellery seeking a larger ring size. Whether worn as a personal good-luck talisman, gifted to someone special, or added to a treasured collection of Australian vintage gold jewellery, this charming ring offers both beauty and meaning. A lucky little heirloom from yesteryear, with seven sparkling reminders that perhaps a little good fortune is never too far away!
