Doug Neal Wine Dinner

We’re finishing our 2026 events calendar with a dinner that I’m particularly excited about. On Tuesday 13 October, I'll be joined by Doug Neal, one of the most respected figures in modern Geelong wine, for a very special tasting dinner at 2 Noble, Newtown. Doug is best known for his time at Paradise IV, the tiny Batesford vineyard with roots stretching back to the earliest days of viticulture in the Moorabool Valley. The original Paradise vineyards were planted in the 1800s, and when the site was revived in the modern era, Doug helped turn Paradise IV into one of Geelong’s great small producers. Before that, Doug spent many years working alongside Rick Kinzbrunner at Giaconda, an influence you can see in the detail, structure and restraint of his wines. Paradise IV became particularly known for the brilliant Dardel Shiraz, which were never made in large quantities, but developed a very loyal following. The Paradise IV vineyard is gone now, lost to history, which makes these wines and Doug’s story all the more fascinating. Today, he continues that work through Altera Terra and other small projects, still very much focused on site, texture and wines with a sense of place. We’ll be tasting through a selection of Doug’s wines across the evening, matched to a delicious menu from the team at 2 Noble, with Doug taking us through the vineyards, vintages and stories behind each bottle.
