Yukutayagama is a family-run, traditional Okinawan pottery kiln (yachimun) located in Yomitan Village, Okinawa, Japan. Pieces are hand-thrown on a potter's wheel using local Okinawan clay, sometimes foot-softened, and then fired in a self-built traditional noborigama (multi-chambered wood-fired climbing kiln) that is typically lit once or twice a year. This small plate works well for that at your dinner table or as an incense burner for incense cones. It features hand-applied glazes with warm, subtle, earthy tones. When fired these small plates leave a distinctive unglazed ring in the center known as ja no me ("snake eye"), a result of being stacked during firing. So cool! Size: Made in Japan.
