De-glycyrrhizinated Licorice (DGL): Licorice root has a long history of traditional use supporting natural mucus production, intestinal wall irritation, and digestive spasms, for healthy digestive function. Unlike standard licorice, de-glycyrrhised licorice is specially processed to remove DGL, making it suitable for people prone to high blood pressure or fluid retention. Marshmallow: Not the confectionery - though the sweet was actually named after this plant. Marshmallow root has been used in herbal medicine for centuries for its rich mucilaginous content, which provides added support for the mucous membranes of the GI tract. Slippery Elm: Named for its distinctive texture, slippery elm bark is another traditional herbal medicine favourite with mucilaginous properties to soothe the intestinal tract and support digestive tract comfort and food transit time.
