Pinus sylvestris , Scots Pine wire rootball 1.5-1.75 m

Scots Pine (Pinus sylvestris) – 1.5–1.75 m Wire RootballBring year-round structure and a natural woodland character to your landscape with Scots Pine. Pinus sylvestris is Britain's only native pine, valued for its evergreen needles and the warm orange-brown bark that becomes more prominent on the upper trunk and branches as it matures.Supplied approximately 1.5–1.75 m tall with a wire-supported rootball, this conifer is a distinctive choice for larger gardens, shelter planting and landscape schemes. Its shape develops with age, from a more upright young tree towards a characterful, spreading crown. Why choose Scots Pine? Evergreen needles provide interest throughout the year. A British-native pine with a distinctive woodland appearance. Can contribute to mixed windbreak and shelter planting. Attractive bark and crown character develop as the tree matures. A long-term structural tree for spacious planting schemes. Supplied size and formSupplied approximately 1.5–1.75 m tall with a wire-supported rootball. This is the supplied height, not its eventual mature size. Branching, density and overall shape vary naturally between individual trees. Allow generous room for future crown and root development; Scots Pine is not a dwarf conifer.Position and growing conditionsChoose an open, sunny position with well-drained soil. Scots Pine is well suited to many lighter soils, but avoid ground that remains waterlogged. For a windbreak, plan spacing and companion planting to suit the site rather than treating it as a tightly clipped hedge.Planting and aftercareKeep the rootball moist and protected before planting. Prepare a wide planting hole and position the root flare at soil level. Support the rootball during handling, and follow the nursery's guidance for the wire basket and wrapping without breaking up the rootball. Water thoroughly after planting, stake where needed and mulch clear of the trunk. Water during dry spells while establishing and check tree ties regularly.
