VarroCheck is a practical, easy-to-use mite shaker designed to help beekeepers monitor Varroa levels in their colonies. Regular monitoring is an important part of good Varroa management. VarroCheck allows you to take a sample of bees, separate and count the mites present, and get a clearer picture of the infestation level in the hive. This can help you decide whether treatment is needed and check how effective treatments have been. The clear bottle makes it easy to see and count fallen mites, while the internal filter basket helps separate the bees from the mites during testing. VarroCheck is suitable for use with either the sugar-shake method or alcohol-wash method, depending on your preferred approach. Key features: Helps monitor Varroa mite levels in honeybee colonies Clear bottle for easy mite counting Internal filter basket separates mites from the bee sample Suitable for sugar-shake or alcohol-wash testing Quick and simple to use during routine inspections Robust, reusable and low maintenance Useful before, during and after Varroa treatment Supports an Integrated Pest Management approach Why monitor Varroa? Varroa levels can build up quickly, even in colonies that appear strong and healthy. Regular monitoring gives you a better understanding of what is happening inside the hive and helps you make more informed treatment decisions throughout the season. How it works: A sample of nurse bees is collected from the brood area, making sure the queen is not present. The sample is then tested using either sugar shake or alcohol wash. The mites are dislodged and fall through the filter basket, where they can be counted through the clear bottle. Please note: Always check carefully that the queen is not included in your bee sample. VarroCheck is a monitoring tool and should be used alongside a wider Varroa management plan.
