El Morito started as a family company, but formalized as an association in 2022 and now serves to assist producers with aggregation and export while encouraging autonomy in processing. Of El Morito’s producers, Lenin’s is one of the highest, located at over 2000 masl. With a passion for fostering relationships with coffee producers across the world, he has been able to bring new varieties to the area, including wush wush and pink bourbon. This particulate Don Flores lot is the variety known as yellow caturra. Standard red caturra is common, but occasionally a mutation results in yellow fruit. This coffee really blew us away, with so many layers of stonefruit. In our brews and cuppings we notice articulate fresh peach and cherry notes, morphing into notes more reminiscent of fancy Luxardo cherries and summery peach cobbler.
