M’rirt’s Avocado-Hued Microcheck Hand-Knot | 22" x 12'-4"
This rug was woven by a talented group of artisans from a village near Beni M’rirt, nestled in Morocco’s Middle Atlas Mountains. Led by Soukina, the collective is made up of 35 artisans and was founded in the early 2000s by Soukina’s late mother. The group specializes in medium to high hand-knot rugs, a style deeply rooted in the region’s weaving traditions and known for its thick knotting technique, which gives each piece its signature plush texture. Made from 100% live wool, the rug was dyed using natural methods by a third-generation family of dye artisans. It has been finished with a symmetrical cut of the pile, resulting in a low, dense texture that softens the surface while preserving the weight and durability of the weave.
