Laveno Stoneware Dinner Plate | Set of 2 · 24.5 cm
A pair of earthenware plates that carry a century of Italian ceramic tradition quietly onto a contemporary table.Thick-bodied stoneware, beige glaze aged into a fine web of crazing — the glaze contracting over decades, not damage. Age has left each piece its own marbling; no two are identical. Smooth to the touch despite the visual texture. Each plate measures 24.5 cm across, stamped underneath by Società Ceramica Italiana. The house was founded at Laveno on Lake Maggiore and became one of Italy's principal earthenware producers, supplying households and restaurants into the twentieth century. The undermark, introduced in 1883, dates these plates to somewhere between 1900 and 1940.Key Features Finish / Hardware: Aged beige earthenware glaze · Natural crazing throughout · Some edges show a slightly rough texture, without chipping · Undermark to base Era: Antique Italian production, c. 1900–1940 Features: Heavy thick-bodied earthenware · Marbling unique to each piece Included: Set of 2 plates Dimensions24.5 cm diameterCare Instructions Hand wash only — do not machine wash Do not soak; prolonged immersion may penetrate the crazing and stain the body Avoid sudden temperature changes — the crazing makes the glaze susceptible to thermal shock Not suitable for oven or microwave — earthenware of this age is not rated for heat Dry thoroughly before storing; the crazing glaze is original and should not be restored or sealed
