Both sizes are remote controlled: a controller plugs into the unit on a Cat 5 cable and displays the temperature and humidity where the machine is working, so you can leave the dehumidifier in the cellar and set it from upstairs. You can run it on either humidistat — the one in the unit, or the one in the remote. That second mode is what makes it worth ducting: put the machine outside the space, hang the controller inside it, and it behaves like a boiler and a room thermostat.
