Pestilence Spell - Curse of Dead Flowers

Do you really want to mess with someone? Do you want to ruin someone’s social and love life? The Curse of Dead Flowers is a hex that makes your target smell unpleasant, no matter how much they shower, wash, or try to cover it up with perfume. It is a pestilence spell that focuses exclusively on inflicting a foul odor on one specific person, causing it to emanate from their sweat, pores, and bodily openings. The pestilence spell is one of the curses classified as light or moderate, although, in my opinion, there is absolutely nothing subtle about smelling terrible. It repels those around them, interferes with personal and professional relationships, and creates an immediate impression of poor hygiene and neglect. The target will not understand where the smell is coming from or why it is happening, nor will they find any medical explanation for it. They will scrub their skin raw with soaps and sponges, desperately searching for a solution they will never find. Witchcraft to make someone else bad is almost ubiquitous. It appears across traditions, has existed in countless forms for centuries, and can be performed in different ways. This is interesting. In societies where modern standards of hygiene, deodorants, and daily showers did not exist, just imagine how severe the effect must have been for one person's smell to become truly noticeable. That alone gives you an idea of the intensity of the pestilence curse. Stinking savour has always been one of the most recurrent manifestations of a curse. A cursed person begins to smell unpleasant, strange odors appear around them or inside their home, or everything in their immediate surroundings seems somehow tainted by an inexplicable stench. Of all our senses, smell is one that witchcraft has always known how to exploit particularly well. Of course, demonic pestilence spells are more effective and ruthless. In this case, the ritual is performed with Marbas and Vassago. Marbas governs the corruption and putrefaction of the body, while Vassago brings what should remain hidden to the surface, ensuring that the stench cannot be concealed. Pestilence spells are usually performed on people for whom smelling terrible would be specially destructive: someone with a very active social life, someone who takes great pride in their attractiveness, or simply someone who is constantly interacting with others. The curse begins with the preparation of a philtum (philter) prepared with Vassago and Marbas's sigils and a secret incantation. Then, I submerge rose petals and other flowers inside the jar, leaving them until they begin to rot. Once the flowers have decayed and the philtum has acquired that unmistakable, revolting smell, a picture of the target is introduced and sealed inside. The jar is left undisturbed for 24 hours. By the time it is opened again, the target has been cursed. This ceremony is... smelly. If you've never smelled the water from flowers that have been left to die and rot in a vase, don't. Trust me. You don't want to know. The Pestilence Spell lasts 273 days, or nine months. After that, the effects fade, and the client can choose to renew the curse or simply leave the target alone.
