Summer Siesta

Summer Siesta from 1885 is an oil painting by Johan Krouthén, the Linköping artist who became admired for his luminous landscapes and depictions of life outdoors. The painting is part of the collections of the Östergötland Museum and belongs to the artist’s early period, when plein-air painting and the careful study of light and atmosphere shaped his visual world.Beneath the tree canopies, a woman rests in a hammock, while a man sits on a blanket in the grass.
