Uteuzi Jimbo - Embu The coffees produced by the Uteuzi Jimbo program ("County Select" in Swahili), including this offering from the region of Embu, are carefully selected to highlight the wide range of microclimates found in Kenya. The region of Embu has an auspicious combination of high altitude, two rainy seasons, and rich soil serviced by six rivers that produces a rich terroir in the coffee it produces. Located in the foothills of Mount Kenya northeast of the capitol of Nairobi, Embu produces 600,000 kilograms of coffee per year through thousands of small producers. We taste cola, honeydew, and blood orange with caramel-y aromatics and a smooth, juicy finish that turns into a rich, wine-like body as it cools. About the Stay True Collection The Stay True Collection is our most intentional coffee release series — a place for coffees with exceptional character, meaningful producer stories, and a clear sense of place. These are coffees we choose because they remind us why we do what we do: to honor craft, celebrate people, and stay true to the details that make coffee worth sharing. Each Stay True release is limited, carefully selected, and designed to be experienced with curiosity. 12oz bag About Uteuzi Jimbo, Embu Origin: Embu, Kenya Farm: Various Small Farms Altitude: 1300-1900 MASL Process: Washed Varietal: Batian, SL28, SL34, Ruiru 11 Tasting Notes: Cola, Honeydew, Blood orange Brewing suggestions Hario V60 15g coffee --> 255g water (For this coffee we recommend grinding slightly coarser than your typical pour over setting!) 0:00 --> pour to 45g for a 45sec bloom 0:45 --> pour in a continuous, quarter-sized circle in the center of the bed to 255g Aim for a draw-down time of about 2:20-2:30
