This late Victorian brooch from circa 1880–1890 combines silver with floral and leaf motifs in gold. The oval brooch is richly decorated with relief, scrolls, and applied leaves. A separately crafted flower with gold overlay is centrally placed. This is securely attached to the silver base with two rivets. At the bottom hangs a small, icicle-shaped pendant that can move freely. The botanical motifs, the use of different metal colours, and the slightly asymmetrical arrangement are characteristic of the Aesthetic Movement, which was popular during the late Victorian period. The brooch bears no hallmarks. The silver was tested; the exact fineness of the gold overlay could not be reliably determined. The current brooch pin and clasp may have been replaced later. This was done neatly, and the brooch fastens well.
