Late Georgian Embroidered Waistcoat, c.1790 This ca.1790 English embroidered waistcoat is a vibrant example of late Georgian menswear. Worked in cream silk with colourful floral embroidery and silk‑covered buttons, it displays the refined craftsmanship and elegant decorative style typical of the period. The front panel remains intact, bright and beautifully preserved, making the waistcoat ideal for display or for draping beneath a tailcoat. Condition & Authenticity The waistcoat has a replacement back, as the original linen panel is no longer present – a common alteration found on antique garments of this age. There are a few areas of discolouration, light pen marks near the left pocket, slight staining under the arms, and rubbing to the silk along the button opening and hem. These are normal signs of wear for such a delicate and historic piece and underline its authenticity. Collecting Significance A rare and visually striking Georgian waistcoat, highly desirable for collectors of 18th‑ and early 19th‑century menswear, historic textiles, and museum‑quality fashion. Measurements Length: ca. 58 cm Bust: ca. 90 cm
