Kato Power Pack Standard SX - Black

Kato Power Pack Standard SX - Black is an updated model train controller designed for N and HO Scale analog (DC) layouts. The 2024 version features a sleek black housing and uses Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) technology to provide smooth locomotive operation and realistic slow-speed performance. The Kato Power Pack Standard SX - Black delivers a rated current of 1.2A and includes built-in overload and short-circuit protection with a convenient manual reset button. The controller is supplied with a standard AC wall adapter, allowing it to be used right out of the box for compatible model railroad layouts. The Kato Power Pack Standard SX - Black is fully compatible with the Kato UNITRACK system. Snap-on sockets allow easy connection of turnout control switches, while feeder tracks can be connected directly to the power pack. The system can also be upgraded with specialized adapters, including options for larger HO Scale layouts and N Scale layouts, sold separately. PWM control provides smooth speed adjustment and helps locomotives operate at realistic slow speeds. Depending on the locomotive, lights can also be turned on while the train is stopped. A two-color LED indicator shows normal operation in green and identifies abnormal conditions in red. The short-detection reset button is conveniently located on the top of the unit. The Power Pack SX converts standard household AC power from 100V to DC output ranging from 0–16V for model railroad use. It controls train movement while also providing power for compatible turnouts, crossings, signals, and other layout accessories. UNITRACK adds further flexibility with secure UniJoiner connections, interchangeable joiners, compatibility with both N and HO Scale, and support for analog and DCC layouts. Its wide roadbed provides stability, while its range of radii makes it suitable for layouts of many sizes.
