Bloodstone palm stones are real curiosities, and no two are anything alike. Some are scattered with deep red flecks, some carry whole patches of rusty red, and others are almost entirely grey, drifting through silvers, soft greens and warm creams instead. Some look dramatic and speckled, a few look calm and cloudy, and yet they all feel the same – steady, solid and quietly reassuring. Seven stones, one energy, nine completely different faces, which is exactly why they’re listed individually, so you can look through them all and choose the one that keeps pulling your eye back. The red is where the name comes from, and the stories attached to it go back thousands of years. Those flecks are what ancient people saw as drops of blood caught in the stone, and warriors and athletes carried Bloodstone for strength, courage and stamina before battles and contests. Its older name is even stranger, because Bloodstone was once called heliotrope, meaning sun turner, from an ancient belief that the stone could turn the sun’s reflection red in water. And my favourite of all its old tales is that in medieval times, people believed the right piece of Bloodstone could make its owner invisible. I can’t promise that last one is true, but I love that somewhere along the way, someone was absolutely convinced that it was! All those centuries of stories still point at what Bloodstone is loved for now. This is one of the great strength stones, the one people reach for when life is asking a lot of them. It’s known for courage, resilience and the stamina to keep going through the long, draining chapters. It’s grounding and fiercely protective, steadying you when everything is chaotic, and it’s known for lifting energy and motivation on the days you’re running on fumes, giving you back a bit of get up and go. Emotionally it works the same way, helping you stay yourself under pressure, shake off the doubt and the noise, and face the hard thing with your feet planted, and there’s a self sufficient streak to it too, because Bloodstone is loved for building that quiet inner confidence that doesn’t need anyone’s permission. The size of these makes them even better at their job, because a palm stone is made to be held. Smooth, rounded and shaped to sit in your hand, this is the crystal for waiting rooms, hard conversations, long weeks and deep breaths, the one your fingers find in your pocket right when you need something solid to hold onto. All seven pieces are photographed and listed individually, so the exact stone you choose is the exact stone that arrives, and choosing is rather the point with these, because one of them will keep catching your eye, and that’s worth trusting.
