Boysenberry
Boysenberries are a unique hybrid fruit; the product of meticulous cross-breeding between raspberries, blackberries, dewberries and loganberries. The resulting berry combines the rich, deep sweetness of blackberries and dewberries with the bright, slightly tart notes of raspberries and loganberries. The berries are exceptionally large, averaging 3 cm long and 2 cm wide. Boysenberries are prolific producers while the vines are thornless, ensuring pain-free picking. Boysenberries prefer well-drained, slightly acidic soil and need full sun for optimal growth. They thrive in a trellis or fence system, as their vines tend to grow long and spread out. Boysenberries also benefit from regular pruning to keep growth in check and encourage better fruiting. Hardy in zones 5 through 9.
